I have yet to progress even close to that. The game also ends way later in the early 1600s. Time rate per turn is switched to a slower pace (I believe it is a year/turn). This is my favorite of the smaller features. So even if you somehow have a maxed out citadel with every building in 1200, you can't build a 16th century pike army with plate armor. Certain units can only be recruited in certain regions, and higher tech units cannot be recruited until certain dates throughout the game. This makes the unit pool replenish much slower, especially for elite units. "Real Recruitment" is one of the submods that is on by default.

Knights are nasty but a limited resource because: Heavy cavalry got buffed to be even more devastating in a charge. Some units from the Kingdoms expansion have been included. This is especially true for the Eastern European factions. Many units have been retextured and some entirely new. More diverse and historical unit rosters. You can play as the Mongols if you choose the option of a Late start campaign. *Teutons are only in the late start game. Aragon, Genoa (replaces Milan), Norway, the Teutonic Order*, the Kievan Rus, the Cumans, the Crusader States, and Khwarezmia, and two starting times of the Campaign: 1100 or 1220. The Aztecs and the Americas have been removed. Further south includes almost all of the Arabian peninsula. The eastern edge of the map is therefore deeper into Russia, and includes a large chunk of Persia. There is both more detail and regions than can be found in Vanilla M2:TW, in addition to having the game map expanded eastward past the Caucusus and the Caspian Sea. Here is a list of some of the changes that I know off the top of my head: I'll try and take a stab at giving you a gist of the differences. The current version, 6.4, is an evolved state of that, and while the game is installing it allows to you make changes based on the gameplay experience you prefer. The reason why they don't spell it out is because it changes so much! The thing you have to understand about SS is that it started as a collection of some of the best and most popular M2:TW mods.
